      My name is Jake Higgins. 

I am a self taught artist and self-expressionist creating realities through abstract artforms. 

In 2014 I left my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio to caravan across the country. Heading due west toward the desert where I would call Phoenix Arizona my new home.

 It was here where I began branching out as a creative. Stumbling upon an artist living workspace and studio in the heart of the Grand Avenue arts district.

 I hit the ground running and over the next 3 years I got to work, hanging my art in restaurants, coffee shops, hosting pop up events in my gallery workspace, and eventually showcasing solo art shows.

         In the summer of 2021 I took the biggest risk of my artist career. Traveling to Brazil to work as an artist in residency at Casa Na Ilha on the island of Ilhabela. This experience changed everything, helping me uncover the lifestyle I have been yearning to lead. Blending art and travel to find the perfect balance of experience and inspiration.

Upon my return to the states. I developed a book of poetry with illustrations and photography of my collection curated during my travels through Brazil.

6 months later I decided to apply for yet another artist residency program. I was accepted to stay at Casa Tagumerche on the island of La Gomera. The third smallest of Spain's Canary Islands.

Moving forward I intend to continue my journey as an artist in residence. To learn about new cultures, inspiration, and self-discovery.
